Hand-In-Hand

Hand-In-Hand

A Poem by Lisasview
"

My very first Sonnet ever. This Sonnet is about the forever remembered love for a mother or grandmother. remembered.

"

Hand-In-Hand....

Her tired eyes saw more than I'll ever know;
long silv'ry hair piled high upon her head,
the clean fresh scent of times so long ago ...
warm stinging tears are those I often shed.

Remembering her laughter through our years,
when we walked hand in hand along the shore.
As lovely sounds of church bells filled my ears,
my love still held by ocean's distant roar.

Now, fresh white, fragrant lilies near her lie,
a few soft petals fallen from the rain ...
their faces wet, turned up toward the sky;
along with them she takes rest from her pain.

Sweet memories we shared now mean so much,
each day, I long for her caressing touch.

                                   ~~~
This was particularly touching to me. I was the primary caregiver for my mother the last five years of her life. It was the hardest and most challenging task I have ever undertaken. Given the chance, I'd gladly do it all again. By her grave, I was almost too exhausted to cry. But I found great comfort in knowing her worldly suffering had come an end even though I know I will miss her until we meet again. Thank you for this, I enjoyed. F.
Yes, I feel that way.. I did write another Sonnet which I submitted but the rest are poems..
This is so pure and heart-touching.
I absolutely loved the lines:
“Now, fresh white, fragrant lilies near her lie,
a few soft petals fallen from the rain.”
Ah, how beautifully expressed and such vivid imagery. Would love to read more of your work.
Love,
Anahat
Truly lovely.
I have just sent the day at my Aunt's funeral. She was such a happy soul. Amazing lady who was dearly loved. Reminds me to live, to keep living, enjoying the moments and sharing the love as you have done so with your darling mother.
Lisa, now in Spain
Memories of ma in law
Silver hair, and weak; she came to us.
After looking after dad in law for two years, alone.
We brought her the two hundred miles home. "I wont be hee for long" She said.
It wasn't long before she demanded some kitchen work, to pass on her time; while we were out at our work.
She bought us a microwave cooker > We went out on late deliveries. now we could have a warm meal when we were completed
Thirteen years later she left, for her final resting place - They let her return to sat good bye _ "I will always be near, they said I could, but you won't see me again." she said >> then she was gone.
