Thinking out loud Free Verse Poetry

      Thoughts ....

    Mystery of thought;

    the thought ... 

    but a mystery.

    Never to be truly 

    captured in words.

    For words often lose 

    true meaning

    of the thought ...

    Words glide lightly 

    over the surface

    of the thought ...

    The thought ...

    held captive within us;

    for a mere instant then, evaporates,

    as quickly as it appeared.

    Now - but a mystery 

    that escapes us ...

    As one thought;

    steps quickly ~ over another;

    overlapping, so cleverly.

    Thought upon thought ...

    leaving no void.

    Even as we sleep, 

    our thoughts have a

    light of their own ...

    dancing about, leaving 

    us with dreams 

    and, a mystery ...

Love this one dear Lisa, specially the first verse, it's cleverly written. your whole poem paints what a thought is, how it's clear sometime, confused at the others, sometimes we are able to describe it, other times we can not. Brain is as the heart, powerful with no limits. our thoughts are the products and fruits of it.

Wow… seems you are going through my poems… how nice of you!!
Yes, thoughts are all that you describe and often either are or lead to memories…and often different from the initial thought…

Capturing those thoughts and translating them into words can be the hardest thing to do and can often leave us frustrated that we are not communicating them to others how we wish., even though they are often received very well by the reader.
Are any of us ever 100% happy with our final offering, hmmmm.

Yes, I think from what I have read from other reviewers putting their thoughts onto paper is difficult..and not being 100% happy with ones work seems to always be an issue with a creative mind..
When we were in the U.S> I had a website and sold quite bit of my art work.
But when we moved to spain 1 1/2 years ago I let the Go Daddy website go.
I teach watercolour on line to my students in the States and once this whole Covid thing is at rest I plan on teaching again at our house..plus, on line.
And, hopefully do shows here and sell my artwork..

The way you write is so admirable- like classic poetry with your own creative twist on it. You’re able to tell an amazing story and it’s so hard to pick a favorite line. How can you when each one tops the other? But if I had to choose, I really loved the lines about forgetting things and words. The most frustration feeling in the world can be when you have an amazing idea, or in our case often, a poem and it slips from our minds grasp. This was impressive, beautiful and so creative!

What a fantastic review! Your review was full of praise and you truly grasped the meaning of my poem..hidden within the lines.
Again this poem was written without any editing.. It just came out of me and I left it as it was. This is hard to describe..but basically I feel this pull to write.. I sit down and every word flows ut of me and ono the page. Then I look at what I have written and I am surprised.. So so weird.. Ofcourse with the Sonnets that I have just started trying to write I do again just write it all out, but then I spend endless time working on every word..

A wonderful poem dear Lisa. I write poetry and story in my dreams. I keep a notebook near to write into.
"Even as we sleep our thoughts have a
light of their own and dance about leaving
us with dreams and a mystery."
I loved the above lines. In dreams, we can create places where we can win. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry. I liked this one a lot.

Good morning from chilly Spain,
I am delighted that you liked my poem. I believe you are correct.. Dreams have a light of their own.. I am impressed that you are able to wake up enough to write your dreams...not me..I do wake up on and off throughout the night but as I am not a great sleeper I do not turn on the light..I just go back to sleep. My father died at the age of 96 and always remembered his dreams and kept journal after journal about them. Most often I am pulled to write and just write down what I am feeling..never editing the lines after they are on paper..
My husband and I often say ...meet you in my dreams..
