Nymph

Nymph

A Poem by Lisasview
"

My Nymph poem was composed using Richards original 'Five 'n Eight" form. I really enjoyed writing using this form.

"

   Nymph....

Every curve just right,

she moves out of sight ...

beneath tall trees, he gleams a glimpse!

Sweet body reflects

butterfly effects;

she skips unaware, like a Nymph.

Through branches entwined,

he trails close behind …

golden pond scene, quite glorious!

Maidens splash about,

swimming in 'n out;

watching, feeling victorious.

Transfixed, he gazes ...

what's seen amazes;

hidden secrets need to be kept.

"Naiad, have you gone,

or bathing 'til dawn?"

Soaked in dreams; alas, overslept....

I believe I may have glimpsed a time or two myself up by the waterfalls. She sounds wonderful. Something again in the form though that just gets to me at times...hard to explain. I enjoyed reading this, of course, but ever since the arrival of Whitman and Dickinson and The Beats and Jack and Bukowski...it is that form that reaches me. Don't get me wrong you've found your voice and I'm still leap-frogging from here to there and back again so I am enjoying and appreciate all suggestions. You only have to look at my latest one to see that there is meaning but....lol. I'll be back with another I wrote this morning ..transcendence comes at a price so they say. Thanks Lisa!!

I have found that at times when trying to follow a certain form or strict word count, creativity gets lost. However, no so in this piece! This is lovely! The artwork you chose is perfect as well. Beautifully done. :)Julie

I enjoyed this, Lisa. The form adds a nice rhythm. As for form, no less of stature than Emily Dickinson wrote in form. I only have one question and it is just that, a question and not a criticism: Why do you chose to use (‘n) when the word (and) has the same emphasis and syllable count? Thanks.

Thank you again for taking the time to read and review my little poem..
Lisa, now in Spain
What a nice tribute to Greek mythology and some of its more elusive characters; the dryads, naiads and nymphs. I was waiting for Pan to make an appearance! I read the funniest book about Pan by Blowing Rock, North Carolina native, Tom Robbins, called Jitterbug Perfume (1984). His books are an artform unlike anything else in print anywhere. I love Tom. Reading any of his novels is a surreal experience. Be forewarned, they are very unconventional, nonconformist and not for the faint of heart or mind. Still, he has written nine bestsellers. Tom turned ninety just this July. I enjoyed your poem. Keep up the great work. F.

Very good. The humor, the excitement and mystery. Well said, love the play on words, imagery and fun. Every curve just right,

she moves out of sight ...

beneath tall trees, he gleams a glimpse! Again- good intrigue to this.
