Butterfly Kisses

Butterfly Kisses

A Poem by Lisasview
"

I wrote this poem using Richards Five 'n Eights original form. Perhaps some of you do not know what Butterfly Kisses are. My mother taught me. We put our eyes together and fluttered our lashes.

"

Butterfly Kisses....

Butterfly kisses,

lovers’ lip blisses,

whispered promises to neglect.

Moments disappear,

hopefulness looms near …

is there enough time to reflect?

A brief rendezvous;

then, one says, "Adieu "

hurtful feelings left on love's bed.

Sheer curtains spread open,

unkind words spoken …

thoughts that never should have been said.

Tear~ending morning,

came without warning!

Alone again, standing undressed.

Too late to find out

love's kiss was in doubt …

our time is now no longer blessed.

I suppose they all cannot be happy endings. What begins as such a euphoric situation somehow breaks down and one floats away while the other lingers behind lonely. I like the rhyme scheme on your poem, it flows very smoothly and is song like to me. Very nicely crafted.

Sometimes brief rendezvous' breakup is as painful as longer ones, no doubt they all hurt us in some way. Your rhyme scheme in this poem is amazing and powerful on it's own; "hurt feelings left on one's bed", that's the worst; so sentimentally sad... it may have been doubtful from the beginning that this would work out...
lovely images, even though sad....

So you are first going to the Azores...
Fluttering lashes like Butterfly 🦋 kisses … enticing as waves splashing on the Sea. Lovers feel the Caress of passion … where a Bed of flowers is only a place to sip the Nectar … and fly away. We will bloom again another day. tenderly, Pat

I like these two lines , they are often the kiss of death when spoken.
Butterfly kisses are so tender and sweet, a lovely way showing affection

A brief affair. Wonderful while it lasts but so hurtful when one says farewell or even worse doesn't say anything. Butterflies, fleeting beauty. Here one minute gone the next. Only the memories left. Beautiful work Lisa. Happy days in Spain.

this is really cool Lisa .. but then that's what would one expect from the faint fan like breeze of fluttered lids between lovers on an otherwise calm sunny day ... actually it's a FAB poem any old day of the week really ................ Neville ready for tea :)

I love the use of a different language in your poem. It always makes me feel more intrigued to figure out what it means if I dont already know, then making me even more intrigued in the poem itself. This is truly a masterpiece.

I would never have the courage to write in an aabccb rhyme scheme for fear of the sound being too close to the rhymes of my childhood. That you could do it is quite a feat.

This is a sad piece of your heart set to pen of page in, what does appear to be, writing of a love now lost, a love, thus, become unrequited and relegated to that shelf upon which we place our dreams, our hopes, our aspirations, and our memories of better times ... Beautifully done ...!
