Splash

Splash

A Poem by Caitlin Nicole
"

Inspiration to write can come from the simplest things.

"

Drip

Drop

Splash

One thousand drops of water,

Splash atop my head,

Then drip to the chilled shower floor,

And drains a string of red,

Drip

Drop

Splash

My mind drifts and eyelids shut,

I fade to a state of white,

As water burns each tender cut,

And I barely hear the water…

Drip

Drop

Splash

Reveries obtrude me,

While I stare blankly at the drain,

Thoughts of how I love you,

Driving me insane,

Drip

Drop

Splash

I can almost feel you at my ear,

Whispering softly,

“There’s nothing to fear”

But when I turn to kiss your lips,

I’m only met with falling drips,

Drip

Drop

Splash.
