Paradise on the horizon

I have to move forward for the sake of my heart
My heart needs serious help without my strength
It will fall apart
Ruins lay beneath my feet but I'm moving forward

Carrying my wounded heart in my hands 
Praying to a god that I don't believe in
Please help my heart to get through this
I'm beyond broken but I'm strong for the sake of my heart
I fell on my knees where debris of
pain, tears, hatred, blood crunched on my bare skin
Looked down on my heart ready to give up
Saw my heart pumping its last breath

Isn't it amazing how a simple smile and a hug
Will save someone from life of misery
Darkness over shadowed my life
I'd forgotten how it feels
When sun kisses my gentle skin
I'd forgotten how it feels to wake up-
With a smile on my face instead of tears
Most simple things in life
Are hardest to obtain

I glanced for hope
There is paradise in the distance
I picked up my heart with my burned hands
Whispered ever so gently with a smile of belief
We will get through this I can see paradise on the horizon

This is a really strong, emotional poem. Though it starts off quite dark, I'm glad that the ending is happier and that there is hope for the narrator. Well done, awesome work :)
