'L' For

'L' For

A Poem by Sagar Patil

Unlike frail false love or that sung for ages
Lust clings on as one's shadows to the one
Its thousand eyes pursue unchaste images
Like eager yellow flowers follow one sun.

The difference between mirage and lake
Is nature's and thirst's evil mutiny,
And much like that between true Love and fake,
It does evade all reason, you and me.

Confuse not every plastic gem for diamonds,
Nor each island as Love's blest continent,
For Lust's bankrupt, Love has unending funds
So choose with whom to pact, whom to acquaint.

Sans Love, all marriage is but some lame deal,
And love is over-rate'd, unless its real.
