My Words

My Words

A Poem by Paula Puddephatt

words

my words

take them

take

aspects of my soul

the pain

the gain

the going insane

a few random words overheard

take them

or leave them

my poems

my blog posts

my words

dark words

vibrant ones

those that reveal

parts of me

that you never knew

existed

misunderstand them

hate them

resent them

love them

crave them

refuse and reject them

dissect them

respect them or not

they are words

only words

and maybe they will never

be enough

but they are

something

and they are mine

so I offer them

offer and share

these words

that you read

or these words

that you don't

I have learned, once you offer up your words, any number of things can happen to them. I just want people to feel something. Nicely done, Paula! Angi~

I love the rhythm of this, it's very fast-paced, yet still slow enough to create meaning and atmosphere. And it's cleverly worded too.
Great work!

Words and thoughts flow from the heart and soul, as well as the mind, and these are such personal expressions of who you are. I believe as poets perhaps one could know us more intimately than those they live with. We are open and laid bare to the world, and that can bring horror or joy.

"Writing became such a process of discovery that I couldn't wait to get to work in the morning: I wanted to know what I was going to say." ~ Sharon O'Brien
