ghost in the machine

ghost in the machine

A Poem by A. R. Heistand
"

(A villanelle)

"

Awaking to a dream within the dream
Our childhoods seem to deter
Only a ghost in the machine

As I clash jaded upstream
In winters we could only inter
Awaking to a dream within the dream

Adulerated spirits go unseen
Persisting unfathomable blur
Only a ghost in the machine

Drain company kept routine
Lost in wild as we were
Awaking to a dream within the dream

Black seas crashing obscene
On highest spirits secure
Awaking to a dream within the dream

And again I hear you scream
With clocks counting on your spur
Awaking dream within the dream
Only a ghost in the machine
