A One-sided Love

A One-sided Love

A Poem by P. Bienert
"

We all get that moment now and again, when you just want someone so bad but it seems like the possibility of it becoming true is light years out of arm's reach.

"

You vanish into a cloud of smoke

As I let my eyelids droop

It feels like a thousand knives,

Agony that’s out of this world

Wishing I could sleep forever

So I could escape the bitter truth

Because just you, only you

Exist in the four corners of my reality

They call it a one-sided love

Of which I call a love that never lasts

They say it passes along with time

Therefore I conclude they are all liars

Somewhere, someday

Our roads will cross paths

A quick glance will ignite

That fire I so long desired

Maybe I’m just over-thinking

Perhaps I dream too much

But either way, my love,

I’d rather do that than die
