Hell Unbounding

Hell Unbounding

A Poem by phantom pains
"

Time is a ruthless tyrant

"
I don't want to be Welcomed, just Introduced.
I would rather scrape the surface of
This monsters skin, than to delve below it
And learn his bones and organs.

Ten miles wide, but barely a foot across
Is one bridge he Welcomed me to scale.
Looking back from where I have come,
The drop seems a cliff, a forty five degree illusion.

The feat, like gambling on rotting wood,
Was a risk at best, any moment,
The system could fall through,
All plays lost in a jumbled mess.

Like ripping off a bandage woven into thick skin,
The sting would hurt, ache, and leave a bruise,
The initial Introduction fed on seconds.
This relationship, wanted as the Welcome.

I, have not found my heaven,
And surely don't expect to under these conditions.
Strangled by time constraints, crowded hallways,
And increasingly affectionate Introductions.
