don't doubt yourself.

i see people on this website doubt their writing a lot. so...i guess this is more of a motivational speech rather than prose. but whenever you feel like crap. read this. it will help.

What is poetry?

A question a few dare to answer.

It comes from you, it is you.

Poetry is you.

Your words are an extension of yourself,

Breaking free from restraints of a closed mind.

But just because your meaning isn’t deep

Or it don’t rhyme

DOES NOT mean its rubbish.

But if no one understands you

It DOES NOT mean you’re an artist.

Stay true to yourself and the words will follow.

 

If people say everyone is unique

And poetry is yourself in syllables.

Every piece is unique,equally enjoyable.

Be proud of it.

Don’t criticise it.

Every piece is different and therefore not up for comparison.

Just love it to put it simply.

Let it flow like melted butter on hot toast,

And if a harsh review comes your way,

View it as construction rather than destruction.

Can only get better not worse.

And forget writers block.

Stupid piece of s**t.

We all hate it but we all bounce back.

Like a professional athlete coming back from an injury.

 

 

So don’t doubt yourself.

Poetry is the literal manifestations of yourself.

Your psyche, your fears, your joy, everything.

You know yourself well. So don’t think otherwise

I don't Know if you know Benjamin Zephaniah.
My Inspiration and the reason i started writing poetry.
This Guy is dyslexic and writes differently sometimes.
but anywayz what im trying to say is it doesn't matter how you do it and aslong you can read and understand it and your happy with it thats what counts.

i was reading up on his stuff i can understand what you mean. his style is very different to anything i've seen but it works so well. amen. couldn't agree more with that.
