what none can do

what none can do

A Poem by Worms

I am at a fork in the road

and my path is winding

I must bear this heavy load

it is myself that I am finding

I search in the dark of night

and in the light of the day

I may continue in my phlight

but I cannot on my way

there are guides at every turning

but be they kings or scum, I know not

I judge each as they come

and worry not about my lot

I search from dusk till dawn

and then all through the day

the trail that I find myself on

is not for those who would stay

it is for all those wanderers

who are not so unlike myself

who would pass time as ponderers

of the doings of man or elf

these men like me they cannot see

that we are each all alone

they think of the world's entirety

as being to each his own

the world is not for any one man

for none can do what the lord can
