the far side

the far side

A Poem by Worms
"

of what?

"

There was once a great and powerful tribe

strong with the blood of mighty chiefs

and this is how my scene I describe

for a story of terrible grief

The chief was just coming of age

and taking his rightful place

when a foe in his hateful rage

said this insult to his face

you know nothing, would be king

nothing that you can use

our ancestors knew of everything

you are just a ruse

The chief was calm and he replied

if you wait and I will explain

whenever one drinks from this cup's near side

he learns of his elders again

The villan of our story realized

if one side shows the past

if one one would want to be future wise

it would be as simple as that

the theif stole into the chief's tent

and found the special cup

then quietly outside he went

and he filled the chalice up

he went to drink from the farther side

but he realized too late

he learned the future from that side

but he didn't know what was at stake

what he saw came true all right

he proved all of his rants

but then he was a sorry sight

with water all over his pants

and so my friends learn well this tale

be grateful with your past

for if you dont you may fail

to see the close side of the glass
