Rabbit in the Moon (El-Ahrairah)

Rabbit in the Moon (El-Ahrairah)

A Poem by Scott H.
"

Native American mythology meets Watership Down

"

"Rabbit in the Moon (El-Ahraihrah)"

There is a rabbit in the moon,

Ancestral memories tell the story -

A trickster brave and cunnign lept,

Became suspended in lunar glory.

There is a rabbit in the moon,

I chase him through the night.

O'er lowland vale and wooded hill,

Souls like comets blazing bright.

There is a rabbit in the moon,

I pray to him when sleeping

To guide my dreams into the morn,

El-Ahrairah in your keeping.

Nice job! :) Really like the rhyme, and the vivid picture it paints. Reminds me of T.S. Eliot's 'Book of Cats' poems in a way... And, yeah, don't know what the Arabic refers to but, love that it's folklore related...

I dont know what the Arabic means, but the poem was brilliant, and loved the fact you used the rhyme...
