Senile

Senile

A Poem by Rc R. Vagilidad
"

They still breathe, for they still want to live....

"

In a house
Filled with love
And forgetfulness

Embodies the life
Beyond life, you see.
As they cripple
Unaided

Their pain still lingers
Their souls are broken
Unknown for eternity
But still theyve tried
To be alive
For such reason
We dont know

They wanted love
For the last time
Even they are inside
Among the others
Weak and feeble
Without any real family

They cry for a reason
Of pain
Physically
But deep inside
We dont know

They eat
For a reason of usual pleasure
They still breathe
For they still want to live
And they sleep
Eagerly, their reasons
For life will end

Ultimately

"They still breathe, for they still want to live..." Such statements pertain to the will and a sense of responsibility. And only a few can deliver it to actuality. There is sadness looking at the old. But are they really lost? No. They are forever stored in the past.

"I will carry this suture
Into the future.
The past never passes
It simply amasses."

i am approaching the last years and all i can say is... life just gets better every year
i am always finding ways to amuse myself and accept the inevitable. i have been told that i still look and act very young and that is all that matters, you see, in my heart i will never grow old. your poem is delightful to read and defines some parameters quite well, but.... some of us are not just waiting to die, we are dying to live

I adore you for writing such a piece full of love, sympathy and compassion.
In fact the old people long to live in this world for love and beauty.
The old age is the second childhood.
We should treat the old people as we were treated by them in our childhood.

This is a strong and moving poem of universal interest. You observe how it is and draw life from it. It is as if Life itself is the subject in its purposeless greed to be. Ach, what are you Life? Tell us! I love the power of this poem. It is also inspiring, too, because if we are going to do it we must do it now, whatever it is we aspire to do or be.

As we grow older, attention matters more than anything else. Sadly, though, it also becomes a luxury. Worst, when we are brought to a "new" home.

compassionate and a reminder to us all that age means nothing less or more - we all desire kindness and recognition of our existence and if we are lucky we will reach maturity in all of mind, body and soul.

I had an uncle with alzstimers or however you spell it.He used to hide in the shower to eat because he thought he wasn't allowed to eat.I caught him in the shower fully clothed eating an apple with the water running and he started crying and saying sorry.
I do like your poem but the though of loosing my mind one day is scary

This is so sad, and whenever I get to see old people, I get saddened. Many of them always have sad eyes and you ask yourself what is the cause behind.
I loved this piece.
Well done.
