Shore of Me

Shore of Me

A Poem by Tyler James Mathieson
"

The first thing I have written in quite possibly 5 years.

"
Thoughts of you rise from the depths of my heart and crash across the sandy beaches of my soul.
They are trespassing.
Unwelcome vessels of happy days long past are corpses that have become too bloated to stay buried.
I miss you.
But I do not miss who you turned out to be, I miss the person I thought I knew.
I loved you.
The beasts of perspective come and rip away what remains of the fond memories that I have of you.
It wasn’t real.
The bones crumble as the inexorable waves of time crash over them until they are distinguishable no more.
They’re part of me.
My shore line is forever changed because of you.
Life goes on.

Let me know what you think. I think this may fit better as a spoken word but I wanted to try some free verse.
