FROM THE ASHES

FROM THE ASHES

A Poem by Teresa Bridges

As I look around this country
All I see is what it used to be
A place we could all call home
A place where we were all free to roam
We all used to be so proud
We were never just a face in the crowd.
But now all we are is a nation full of terror
Lead by leaders who are full of errors
A war that no one understands
A place where no one cares about his fellow man.
We have a nation full of the working poor
The rich get richer and want even more
We have people who have no homes
And the government just leaves their plight alone.
We have babies who have no hope
And a bunch of addicts whose GOD is dope,
We have disease and all kinds of strife
Is this really American life?
When will the insanity end?
How far does humanity have to bend?
When will it all just break
Before we realize all that is at stake?
Will we have to wait for unwarranted clashes?
Or do we have to wait to rise from the ashes?

These are definitely some uncertain times, I just hope it's not to late. Just saw the movie ( The day the earth stood still. Reminds me of this poem.
