The Pauses

Between the spoken lines, there are pauses
Listen carefully to the silence
For there is a whole world of conversation
Going on between those pauses

Read carefully to what is written
Immerse yourself within those words
There is a whole chapter
That has already been published

Look deeply at the pictures sent
Galaxies are created with brush strokes
The eyes will reveal the truth

On days without communication
Think intensely about the quiet
For she is having an internal debate
About how she feels about you

Those pauses I find, are small recallibrations in the bigger picture of how we are thought of and think of others, just as you so eloquently say. They should be taken by the one talking as a chance to pause also and perhaps clarify their intentions, as it may lead to a permanent judgement if not corrected.
Perhaps you're ahead of your time, as we all acquaint ourselves with more and more silence, with plenty of time to deliberate the enforced silence, as well as all those silences we gave the benefit of the doubt to before.
All this time on our hands has certainly led me into rewinding some conversations and listened to those silences again... As well as regret not putting my own mouth into silent mode.

I can't think of anything more important, when it comes to communication. You spell it out in a friendly, eye-opening way. Back when you posted this in 2017, maybe one could read it with the idea that we'd be face-to-face, looking at the other person to watch his/her pauses. But in 2021, with people feeling isolated becuz of social distancing, I feel the pauses are more important than ever. I recently iced a friendship becuz of the pauses (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Neville don’t get discouraged. I have been on this site for ten plus years. There was a time when the satire EH Monroe raged within this domain, The Perfectionist dragon speed out English grammar mistakes, Crowley wrote you tale to get lost in, Larry Dyson could take you off on an adult midnight adventure and Poppy Silver could weave a romantic using scientific calculation. There were great writers who read and helped each other long the way. You can still read many of their works on here. Each time I get on here it seems I start over with a new set of friends. Lol
