Emotional Diet

Emotional Diet

A Poem by Poetic Beauty

Closing out emotions
The deeper ones
That dwell within

Blocking out the past
Adding a brick
To the crumbling wall

Leaving the love
Hidden beneath
A swirling lake

Trapping the pain
Silently behind
A cage of iron

Letting go for now
Of lost feelings
Cloaking them with a veil

Enjoying the moments
As they are made
Reveling in the present

Smiling for today
For I am
On emotional diet

I believe emotional control is gained through emotional maturity; not having expectations of others but being secure in your own thoughts, emotions and also comfortable in your own skin and with your own voice. It's been my experience that confident, strong and intelligent people draw others of like-mindedness while the weak and uncertain swirl in an endless spiral of runaway emotion. But it's often difficult to focus our energy if we are distracted by emotions. I do not desire to feel things less but to react to my own emotions in a reasonable and logical fashion and balance my feelings against the situation at hand. So, no diet for me, but I have learned to partake of the healthier choices that are both filling and fulfilling rather than empty calories and wasted tears.

They do weigh us down and are basically made up of negative nutritional content, that clog the mind with their harmful and explicit content.
But as with all that isn't good for us, we only find out their addictiveness after we are hooked on their manufacturers evil intent.
It's pretty much the same reason we don't have three deep fried mars bars for breakfast. Well, not every day at least. 😀
I would love to see if weightwatchers or slimming world instructors can coach you through this one 😀

Indeed you did 👍
That's a good diet. At least until we can just let go. Enjoying the everyday moments can actually help us let go once and for all. It just takes time. You got me thinking and that's what a poem is meant to do. Thanks for sharing this one. Cheers!

This one was written to vent thoughts and emotions
sometimes the pain gets to be too much...and we starve ourselves of love...
stark images here.

I guess we could all do with going on this sort of diet as many of us (poets and writers in particular) gorge on emotion until bloated and distended and nauseous. A crisp piece indeed PB.
PS do you not send our RRs? I rarely see your posts otherwise.
