Dancing with Janis

Dancing with Janis

A Poem by Poetic Beauty
"

Missing a great poet and Friend Laury Dyson. We always talked about Janis Joplin together. Lover her music; he once knew her. May you and Janis be Dancing in Heaven together!!

"
I hope you are
Dancing with Janis
Rocking and Rolling
Swaying to the beat

Creating music
Oh so groovy
Moving your feet

Toast to Janis
Jack her favorite
Whiskey in hand

Drink to Laury
And amazing poet
Brilliant person
Better friend

Sing a song or two
Send me the vibes
Rock Heaven’s gate
Sing to all of us

Recite a poem
Say it out loud
Spiral it through
The ether, the clouds

Not only a remarkable tribute to a good friend but a testament to the power of music, poetry with a good voice and strings, I'd say. Janis was a remarkable artist, and it's a tribute to her and others that you'd mention her in such a moving poem about a dear friend. The dead and poetry move us like no other force. This is proof.

"Break another little piece of my heart now baby, you'll know you've got it if it makes you feel good..." What a thoughtful and fitting tribute to your friend. I enjoyed the read. F.

I love the sentiment of this poem and it's tone. I particularly like the last verse - that is how writing poetry feels to me too- spiralling it through the ether

Recite a poem
Say it out loud
Spiral it through
The ether, the clouds

Love it!

I must admit, i'm a Joplin fan. Although that voice had to grow on me. But when it did, I could see the genius of her blues and her infirmity. Blues singers have one hell of a time masking the boundaries of their hurt. Monteux 68 she was in pain and the lower half of her body shook when she stomped out her songs. It remains one of the more electric live performances ever recorded. So whoever's in the clouds with her, there having one stomping good time....dana

Very nice tribute to your friend, I enjoyed songs by
Janis and many others back in the day, most still living and touring. Would be awesome to share a dance with any of them BEFORE I pass along :)

Thank Laury was a amazing poet great friend and wise mentor.
And may they be cruisin' around heaven in a Mercedes Benz! This is a very imaginative way to commemorate your friend & the friendship you two shared. This is nicely laidback & this convey the sensation that the friendship was a comfy one (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
