Unconditional You

For my Beasty who is miles and miles away.

This is an exception for a moment
One in which I will speak freely
Today will embrace my thoughts
Letting my inner most feelings soar
Brought to life; pausing on the surface

It is forever unconditional
No restrictions on time or place
This feeling has a life of its own
Always beating in your direction
Singing a chord only for you

It doesn’t care about your flaws
Or the broken jagged pieces
Only a wild rawness is seen
The uniqueness that is solely you
The preying beast and the man, in whole

I accept the wild with the tame
The meltdowns with the blazing desire
Never questioning how I feel
It is unwavering and constant
Loving even when you are in doubt

This is no ordinary tale
For it is unconventional
It doesn’t fit into a standard box
Entirely contoured to you
Without reservation if it’s real

I understand you deep within
The charming with the fractured
The trepidation and the bold
I comprehend the questioning
And the pulling back, hesitation

You are you complete different
And that’s what draws me to you
Your heart, your soul, all that is you
Ahh, and your genuine smile makes melt
Leaving me in a state of bliss

this is very good.. seems it isn't really love that is the problem.. I am reminded of the adage "a bird can love a fish but where will they live.." I have loved several people in my lifetime but I couldn't live with some of them.. some are still friends and some are not.. but once I have come to love some one it doesn't ever seem to go away.. finding and learning to maintain healthy boundaries isn't always easy either.. I'm still working on that one..

I am glad you liked this poem. My Beasty and I are only friends. He moved back home about 10 years ago and we live extremely far away from each other now. We have a strong connection and bond that has remained. I wrote this for him on Valentine’s Day and sent it to him. Some loves are eternal.

I am fortunate to have him as a friend and be able to at least text him and call him. I’m going to try to take a vacation this year and see him. Make a few new memories just spending a time with him. No expectation just to be feel the calm I feel in his presence

This is the very best I've seen it expressed, how some among us (me, for sure) have such a thorny list of issues, it's hardly worth inflicting oneself on anyone else in close quarters. And how, given such thorns & sandpaper, the difficult one must surely require superhuman feats of tolerance from a beloved other. The way you lay it all out in specifics, so we experience how this can be, showing your commendable ability to accept all the tough parts, yet not appearing to be judgmental or sanctimonious about it. "I understand you deep within"... That's it, that's the true essence of love. If the couple or atleast anyone of this bears this feeling then it is unconditional love. When you truly love someone then you ignore the flaws, because loving him actually makes you satisfied, contented... That is purity and completeness of the bonding. A very endearing write..

While we aren’t a couple and haven’t been for years now. We have remained friend since he now lives so far away. Oh I know his flaws, and while they do irritate me from time to time, I understand why he is the way he is and I love him anyway.
