Desert Slumber

Desert Slumber

A Poem by Poetic Beauty

Air swirls with cactus flower
Floating upon the warm wind
During the enchanting hour
As consciousness starts to bend

The vast expanse of the sky
Shines with iridescent orbs
Reaching immeasurably high
As subconscious absorbs

Sand stretches out its rough hands
Giving its alluring invite
Beguiling with its commands
As slumber begins to ignite

Dreams tango under the moon
Tempo steady flowing smooth
Rhythmically beating in time
Visions fluttering to sooth

Scents merge of desert and man
Creating lucid soaring dreams
Hazy silhouette stands close
Shadowed in celestial beams

Ya know, Dear PB? 🤔

There's nothing (poetically speaking) I enjoy more than a well-struck poem with even meter, smooth flowing syntax. spot-on rhyme, and vivid imagery painted with skillfully laid metaphor, touches of sensual embrace, and caresses from imaginative poetic hands.

There is something magical and mysterious about the desert that's always captivated my fantasies, and you certainly have captured mine … with your own. 😏
I've one on here you might find intriguing … it's titled simply, "One Desert Night":

Love your title and picture … both peaked my interest and lured me in.
Thank goodness they did, or I'd have missed this uniquely splendid piece!

I love how you show so many diverse aspects of life as everything dances in your desert. Your poem speaks to the psyche, the heart, & all of our skin catching all the sensory delights you've packed into this poem. V4 is over the moon, especially line 1! Some people think of "desert" as being "all the same" (dull, boring, perhaps?) But your poem shows us the vast diversity that can thrive there . . . whether it's the desert of sand & heat or the desert of parched emotions (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Thank you so much. I dream of the desert often.
I have never been to a desert, only seeing photographs or films on TV. I have heard that the nights can become very cold even though the heat in the day can be scorching. Clear sky, no air pollution would create a dreamy expanse to look upon. Beautifully visual PB.
