Gathering Storm

Storm clouds begin to gather
Dancing across the night sky
They swirl with onyx beauty
Heavy with unreleased moisture

Thunder rumbles in the distance
Whispering it’s low toned growl
Until it gains primal strength
Roaring to life with energy

Lightning bolts from cloud to cloud
Streaking through the ominous sky
Strobing flashes flicker fast
Creating beauty only nature can

Rain slowly starts to drip down
Soaking into the dry earth
Droplets pelt every surface
Glistening beneath dim streetlights

I absolutely love, love this. Storms are my favorite weather ever, and late nights are my favorite time of day! I loved the use of onyx, it was so fitting. Rain can be so much, soft pitter-patters, or chaotic storms that can destroy so much around it. Anytime there's a poem about storms or nighttime, you can bet I'll love it, but this one has a special place for me. It's just written so well.

The imagery in this one recreates nicely the way storms build up. This is especially true in the summer season, when they often build up and explode in the late afternoon. It seems as though the lightning bolts described are more prominent in summer, too.

Wonderfully depiction of a storm here. I've always said storms are like a living person, as in we and the storm have similarities. Such as we have to feed to become stronger and we both have different personalities, sometimes calm and soft and other times violent and destructive. You have laid out a fine detail of the storm and as always keep writing fellow writer.
