Stranger Staring Back

Stranger Staring Back

A Poem by Emily Dickinson Jr.
"

This about seeing who you truly are. Not what eveyone else sees or your perception of yourself but the real truth. It's about accepting yourself :-) read it plz

"

Such beauty I have never seen

Huh! that's me?

 It can't have been

I've never been a sight to see

You want a picture

Really? yes! Of me?

I never guessed

I still can't see

How that face

Could really be me

I look again

My belief denied

Yet my hope is sprung

I am suprised

The gown of blues

And golds and greens

Has shown me such

Amazing things

Then its ripped

It's shown a dream

The face has cracked

It looks real mean

My dress is torn

My throat swells

My tears ....

Im afraid

This was

My greatest fear

It wasn't me

How could I think

That I was ever

On the brink

Of love and awe

beauty and more

So now I sink

Unto the floor

While she sneers

"look at her"

And then it stops

I know its me

All the beauty

and the ugliness

That I see

So I sink upon my knees

 And say

"I see."

Content to know

That both are me

Mirror image, both selves the ugly and beautiful sides make a person, define them... Through the looking glass the person we often see, the real truth behind the painted facade is not always what we expect... I really like how you've artfully described this sensation and concept, well penned indeed plus the picture looks amazing and fits well with this piece :)

Its one of the things about one's beauty....You cant always see it every time you see the mirror....Sometimes its there, sometimes it isnt....
But all the fear is in your own mind..
the fear of losing your own charm...
Very well written...

Loved the idea of this piece...People talk about finding your real self? What is this real self? is it something different from our perceptions or rather something torn in between them? Who knows?

"Content to know
That both are me"

That's the idea.. if you are comfortable with yourself, other things are elementary... The poem is well structured.. It talks about the two conflicting visions and finally culminates in the reality.... I loved the flow of the monologue.. this is wonderful work... Keep up!

A very 'twisted' piece in terms of the two images and the strufggle with self. Very well set out and with good pace and flow.
