Sister

Sister

A Poem by poison&kerosene

Sweet little Chelsey with her golden hair

Forced with borrowed burdens she can’t bear

Her grades never slip and neither does her tongue

The silent torment sprouting for a girl far too young

Sweet little Chelsey with her golden eyes

Only in private she allows herself to cry

Chaos’s melody plays somberly in her home

She locks herself away and dares not to roam

Sweet little Chelsey you grew up far too fast

Trauma breeds trauma that can’t stay in the past

Did anyone thank you for being so strong?

Your silent pain held us together for so long

What a sad comment on the lack of parental care and protection this poem portrays. I think many kids these days are being forced into isolation due to the pandemic and I think that lack of interaction is detrimental to their social development. But these are unprecedented times with unprecedented mandates and measures.

I wonder of the "trauma" faced and was it - alone?

Lucky you it seems. Lucky you.

Silent pain is the worst burden to bear. When the caregiver has no one to lean on. The weight of the world
is such a heaviness, when we take care of everyone but ourselves.

Hidden secrets here that sweet little Chelsea has to endure. Always sad when people are in torment by stuff going on in their lives. You have conveyed the mood well and your stanzas flow well and your end rhyme is sound. Nicely penned.
