A Bird's Cage

A Bird's Cage

A Poem by Lucia Morgan

Birds in their cages,
So beautiful to watch.
Their freedom un-achievable,
So seldom sought.

Perched in the dim light,
Covered in dust,
Lost relics of glory,
Lost relics of lust.

Such a  lovely, lonesome call.
Crying sung in the night,
Drowned in tears of memory,
Drowned in tears of flight.

Coarse, dry, and fragile,
Dusty, dim, slots.
Colors withered with time,
Time withers well.
