Chrysanthemum

Chrysanthemum

A Poem by prema

                                                     Chrysanthemum
     The autumn queen of garden
     Blossoms of tender stems laden
     Velvety  petals in golden hue
     Melts away heart's winter blue.
      Attired in pure natural innocence
Thou are ignorant of thy essence,
      Unaware of thy endurance.
Other flowers fade away, thou seen in abundance.
      As  a symbol of sun
      Petals curling in perfection.
Thou stay through winter braving frost
In vying with other blooms, thou not lost.
      Roses are thorny and frail
      Thou remain fresh without fail
      Roses are infested with worms,
Thou are repellent to most bugs.

O'oriental beauty, festivals are held in thy name
      Such great is thy name!
      A darling of the florist
Words fail me of  thy enchanting aroma to elicit.
