Accused

It has taken me a lifetime

to reach this point in time

I have struggled in ways you will never know

been through fires you will never touch

 

I have confessed my wrongs

admitted my faults

reached out to you

 

but you stand and accuse

as if you could not stoop any lower

you now stand and accuse me

in a whole new way.

 

Now it's my mission you attack

now it's my service you mock

now it's my motives you sneer at

 

You could not have been any more cruel.

attack my personality

attack my life

attack what you will

 

but

 

YOU DO NOT ATTACK

my service to God

YOU WILL NOT ATTACK

my service to Him

YOU WILL NOT INSULT

my motives and my heart

 

you have no understanding

no wisdom and no insight

into the realm in which I operate

 

I never expected you to

I never asked that of you

 

As if you could not kick me any further

now you say that my motives are impure

 

you do not understand.
