To Dance

To Dance

A Poem by bellaa

They stand in the wings.

The stage lights are on.

One points in my direction-

The show has begun.

Should I step from my place in the wings?

Am I worthy of such a light

Its like a sun that rests on me...

Do I deserve that deity?

The music starts,

The violins match the beats of my heart.

Its like the stage is a tightrope,

And I must walk across it.

The butterflies begin to flutter around

I feel my feet leave the ground,

I’m running on my toes across the stage.

But am I brave enough to dance?

When I look from the stage-

I see the crowd, I see no faces.

Its like a masquerade...

But I don’t wear a mask,

For I am brave enough TO DANCE.
