deer and tiger

deer and tiger

A Poem by priyabrata

oh god help me please
a four footed beast
is chasing me
it has killing paws and eyes
i am running,my legs are becoming weak
my eyes are full of tears,my mind is full of fears
what are my sins,my sins
            oh god please help
i have to hunt,
i am in hunger for days
don't know fault of the angel
running in front of my eyes with emotion
but,i have to hunt, you told before my creation
the angels throat in the beasts mouth
she has no clue
oh god,oh god you are brutal too

This has so much truth and emotion, the final lines have particular impact. To me, they raise a similar question to Blake's when he concluded the Tiger, 'what immortal hand or eye dare frame thy fearful symetry?' Nature (God) to human eyes is as ruthless and cruel as it is nurturing and life-giving. We struggle with the contradiction, because we have no innocence. Every soul is fated to be a devourer of others, and is inevitably faced with the same demise in turn. But our concept of death is a very limited, human one. We are not seperate, though we forget. We destroy for other motivations like power, apathy and revenge, such is the insanity of humanity - taking the place of God. No other species kills so consciously. But we have the choice to change the future:). This is outstanding writing. Kangaroo picture?:)
