Pretense

Pretense

A Poem by Pete
"

After walking by night several times, I now walk by day, but I am not aware of any crowning advantage in it. - Thoreau

"
Billericay streetlights to stay on until 1am

night assaults day
then runs away
accusing dusk
dusk blames dawn
dawn is a pawn
a reason to stretch and yawn

in forty winks

night's alibi is gone

Author's Note

Pete
"If the day and the night are such that you greet them with joy, and life emits a fragrance like flowers and sweet-scented herbs, is more elastic, more starry, more immortal- that is your success." - Thoreau
