Musing With An Amusing Muse

Man is the artificer of his own happiness. - Thoreau

alone
in latent desperation
i read his transcending words
sensing pieces of him in the margins
his lifeblood flowing through the pages

plodding along to the park down by the water
through the pointless, raping city
he's there with me
keeping cadence
one-two-three-four

this cheerleader of faithful repose
turning rocks over
inhaling creation
wearing a pink carnation
saving me from eternal damnation
teaching me the song
so i never get it wrong

showing me how to let go of pain

as we lather-up, laugh and dance in grey rain

"We are made happy when reason can discover no occasion for it. The memory of some past moments is more persuasive than the experience of present ones. There have been visions of such breadth and brightness that these motes were invisible in their light." - Thoreau

What a unique, contagious, upbeat way to paint that spark of tenacity that keeps most people from giving up. Lets face it, life is the s***s half the time (or more, for many). We need this spunky muse kickin' around in there, or we would give up. This spry little guy allows us to entertain the idea of giving up, becuz we know he will coax us back to the other side of the dotted line before we actually do (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

so kind of you to share thoughts. thank you. appreciated ... :)
When that feeling of nostalgia hits you right in the pit of your stomach...and memories of sheer joy comes flooding back....there's no rhyme or reason for this feeling other than at some point it made you happy.

Your muse has your back!

Good imagery!

I loved how the mood of your words picked up pace in your 3rd stanza..very.nicely penned!
