Way Too Much

Way Too Much

A Poem by Pete

On the (F)utility of Missing Someone

waxless candles
interminable years
tumescent tears
pain twisted and wrapped inside
where emptiness hides
and longing abides
in an endless forced march of melancholy

days mourned in a flowerless wake
neural nights lie down in restless slumber
memories of glossed lips rattling the rusted dogtags of MIA love
calling out
distilled spirits shout
no way in
no way out

your taste
your scent
your feel
pleading legs kneel
in all that i feel
along with your yearned touch

it's way too much

I love the intensity of your poem & how it can apply to WHATEVER might be MIA in one's life. That being said, it's hard for me not to relate your message to a longtime friend whose brother died of covid in the past few days becuz, for weeks, she's been posting these grueling accounts of sitting with him thru his dying. I've been completely untouched by covid in my life, but a poem like this & my friend's experience bring it to me in an intense way (((HUGS)))

I love seeing this side of you, Pete. It's deep emotion that could apply to anyone's life in these days of stress that have become a new normal. Best wishes my friend!
