Garden Party

The Tree of he Knowledge of Good and Evil (art by akatsuki-blast)

inebriated
unsatiated
fated
hated
outdated
highly debated
newly sentenced and incarcerated

clouds gathered in an indisputable quorum
thunder rattled
lightning flashed
time came to an unexpected stop and crashed
mountains were brought to their mighty knees
two people did as they damned well pleased
eating bittersweet fruit from an unfamiliar tree

coaxed by a dulcet ophidian
not for heaven's sake
a harvest fermented
an eternity cemented
naked and besotted
a tree twisted and knotted
souls rotted
temptation showing
knowledge of things they had no business knowing
why was this arbor there, growing
an instant for blindness to see
a misguided attempt to be all that they thought they could be
introducing iniquity

to both you and me

Your imagery pops off the page in dynamic profusion. Your wordplay is humming along quietly in the background, a sturdy dancefloor under this garden party (((HUGS)))

An amazing poem and analysis of the origin tale of good and evil; the tree of knowledge which bore the fruit of or demise and mortality. A very eye opening and illuminating piece. Great job Pete I really enjoyed reading this poem of yours.
