Mysterious Mozart

Mysterious Mozart

A Poem by Pete
"

Unpremeditated music is the true gauge which measures the current of our thoughts, the very undertow of our life's stream. - Thoreau

"
.
Mozart in Vienna - VIENNA

down at the park today
sitting atop a drain pipe as if riding a horse
this pipe jutting out from the rocks lining the inlet
directing last night's rain
this man in a fedora
waving his arms like a conductor without a baton
this way and that
up and down
side to side
waves and circles
clockwise and counter

the harbor sitting quietly in mesmerized audience
me, watching from afar on my usual bench with a bewildered curiosity
what is this man doing
is he on something
does he know something that i don't
has he gone somewhere that i won't
is he just a misguided lunatic
with an invisible stick
playing the part
performing his art

like a mysterious mozart

Author's Note

Pete
“If we respected only what is inevitable and has a right to be, music and poetry would resound along the streets. When we are unhurried and wise, we perceive that only great and worthy things have any permanent and absolute existence, that petty fears and petty pleasures are but the shadow of the reality. This is always exhilarating and sublime.” - Thoreau

dear Pete, I hear You... I hear your own words and music and I can't agree more with your description sentence. this mysterious man is a leader of that moment, a moment that feels endless, timeless, and with or without audience his message will be received in a way or another, and You already know this.
