thinking i'm strong-willed and clever
i draw lines in the sand of my mind
using words like "always" and "never"

reneging tides ebb and flow
presumptuous winds blow
along with "ifs" and "buts"
invading my resolve

lines start moving
deceiving
believing
ill-conceiving
reconceiving
redrawn
disappeared and gone
next thing i know

dusk is dawn

That space in time where reflection isolates and demands attention spans forever so it seems, I so felt and understand that within this poem and just as some miniscule conclusion is approached, those pesky "ifs" and "buts" rudely invade and cause chaos to a hard worked for order of mind...why must clouds envelop sunbeams at times ey...brilliant piece dear Pete, stay well :)

The mind can truly be influenced by outside forces making its resolve and ethics malleable to its nature. When wrongs are suddenly seen as rights. Where lie becomes truth. Free will is not always free. A powerful message my friend.
