Both Poles Are Damn Cold

Both Poles Are Damn Cold

A Poem by Pete
"

Not all those who wander are lost. - Thoreau

"
crash and burn race car driver
skydiver with no ripcord
overloaded cargo freighter
slippery, curvy road masquerading as straighter
see me now
hear me again and later

unbalanced beam
pogo stick
trampoline
stretched rubber band
compressed spring
never knowing what the next minute may bring

marathon of mixed signals
sprint of racing thoughts and feelings
from slow dancing to twist and shout
the music fast and loud
heavy burden to feathery cloud
wailing guitars to funeral dirge
whatever floats the dingy with the hole when you get the urge

vacillating 'tween stark, euphoric mania and wormlike, bottomless depression
caught in an endless, emotional riptide
exhausting, forced fun and a hell of a ride
