Golden Distant Shore

A Poem by Pete

The sea-shore is a sort of neutral ground, a most advantageous point from which to contemplate this world.” - Thoreau

surprised
i awoke this morning and my pillow was wet
i ran my fingers over the damp cloth
"tears", i quickly and easily surmised

but my eyes were dry so they couldn't have been mine
no, someone else's i'm sure
an angel's i  think
as out of the corner of my crusted eye i saw someone in white with wings turn and go with a wink
fluttering through my closed door

over a sea of humanity's tears
across an ocean of dark year's
wondering what it's all for
searching for more
no doubt headed for a

golden distant shore

Author's Note

Pete
"I must live along the beach, on the southern shore, which looks directly out to sea, -- and see what that great parade of water means, that dashes and roars, and has not yet wet me, as long as I have lived." - Thoreau

* I wrote this poem and then as i usually do, searched for music to accompany it and happened to come across the included song that i''d never heard before. i had originally titled it, "Distant Golden Shore" but changed it to go with the song lyric. i am often amazed to find a song similar to a poem that i have written. this one is so similar that it scares me.

A splendid poem with an angaelic charm portraying humanity in a different light with its plight if things don't change and tears of sorrow don't stop. You are like Joseph interpreting dreams. Marvelous.
