A Poem by Raven Radke

We all have secrets

See that girl with the pretty face?
Doesn't she look like nothing happened?
See that girl with the brilliant smile?
Doesn't she look she doesn't want to cry?
But they both are hiding something deep inside...

See that guy with a group of friends?
Doesn't he look like he loves being their buddy?
See that guy with the girl he's talking to?
Doesn't he look like loves her like a friend?
But they both are hiding something deep inside...

The truth is...
The girl with the pretty face
is hiding the fact that she is abused...
The girl with the brilliant smile
is hiding the fact that she wants to cry over her life...
The guy with the group of friends
is hiding the fact that he can't stand them...
The guy talking with the girl
is hiding the fact that he loves her with all his heart...
See! They all are hiding something

This awesome. I'm not sure how quite to review it.
I guess it carries a lot of truth to it, is what I have to say. That truth is accentuated by the fantastic way it was written. You present us with four common people...and then reveal what we already know about them...that they are sad.
But that last one...he is THE most interesting.
You have four people hiding pain...while he is hiding something that is...something far more complex, fantastic, and beautiful.

You pulled us in, got us into the truth of the characters, and then rebuked our expectations to the fullest. Nicely done, in my opinion.
