I always knew you.

From the moment I opened my eyes.

I was once your ever loud neighbor,

Up from his bed, at five in the morning,

Knocking at your door; wanting a piece of your bread.

I always admired first, your kindness and your beauty.

Now I see you more deeply, you're like a big sister to me.

From my first teenage hang-out, and that was with you,

I knew that I still was a child, with someone in her 20's,

But hey, someone cool and still thinks like I do.

You're a loving daughter and an amazing sibling,

You're smart and you're an artist at heart.

You capture moments beyond what the lens can,

And paints the world with your magic pen :)

Your face; that of a highschool girl, but your mind,

It thinks deeply and creates magic.

Your poems, the first time I read them,

I was completely blown away.

Your poems spoke of who you truly are,

And I'm happy because I see my best friend while reading them.

It just shows that you were always true with me,

And that I was truly your brother- beyond our hang-outs,

But inside your loving and kind heart.

You were the one who introduced me to this world,

This world where I learned that life has no boundaries.

You brought me here where I found triumph-

In my room; writing and striving hard for my dream.

Happy Birthday and you are my hero :)

This is probably the strongest stanza, it speaks so loud and clear with beautiful imagery and sound. Its power and emotion behind it with few simple words and such a lovely comparison. Yet another fine work from you Dale and what a lovely birthday present. I think a poem is probably the best birthday present one can receive. There are gifts of the heart, things purchased that are more thoughtful but a poem is the greatest gift of all because there is not only thought, but emotion behind it. What a lucky recipient.
