Higher

Higher

A Poem by Jofer Serapio

Falling is bitter when you’re alone

Death is the easiest way out

But I was never on my own

Not when you slay my doubt

You take me higher

Higher than a swallow’s flight

Higher than the nimbus crowd

Where darkness is beaten by light

I feel lighter than before

Lighter with your arms around me

I couldn’t really ask for more

And I thank you, sincerely

Now, I don’t need to fly

Not even to float

I’ve already reached the sky

And my story, you wrote.
