Gaze

Gaze

A Poem by Einstein Noodle

smokey, star breath of
whirling words and skies, I
deeply inhale

my meager, eager eyes search
horizons line; stretched bindings and
sleep

books! ..books yellow .... brittle pages so
racked  -    back   -    instead of open in
me

snarls! black she wolf bares
fangs and drools cruelly in
sight

golden eyes. no star's light, yet
flashing heavily
pierces.

Seems calm and contemplative and quickly escalates. Things that are beautiful and seductive can bite, and things that incite fear don't always end badly. This one seemed to have a beautiful contrast of imagery and emotion to me, nicely done my friend. I have missed you.

Whew! Shocking Beauty And the Beast! Magical juxtaposition of feelings and scenarios here. "Smokey, star breath of whirling words and skies."-weaving of lyrical dreams..then in comes the she-wolf who "bares fangs and drools cruelly in sight". Absolutely love this!

so I just read what your own intent was here and I laughed out loud - yes - well - it happens. Some wolves need time to wake up and adjust to the new day before hearing a mates call of "Good Morning My Dear" ... hahahaha ... this is a typical scene in many a relationship ... :D you made me smile X

I like this. It make me want to search my memory for the sensations you describe. The piercing gaze in the starless night, the brittle pages of yellowing books and how they feel. Good stuff.

Wow...I love it. This one is subtle, and yet not.
You are pulled in, feeling safe and secure in what you think you will read...then before you realize it...you're transported into a deeper, darker emotion. Love this: snarls! black she wolf bares
fangs and drools cruelly in
sight

We are so often deceived by what we view as innocuous...only to learn it isn't (and never was) the tamed entity we imagined it to be...so too, is our writing...sometimes it comes back to lash at us, ripping open wounds and leaving us bared and unprotected, as only words can do. Nicely penned, E!

Perhaps from longing, dreamy moments to a time when fears sprang from the darkness and clung, claw deep, into the memory?

Have read this near gothic piece three times and unsure of a true meaning. A clever literary ploy, dear friend.

Such fine phrasing: ' .. smokey, star breath of whirling words and skies, I deeply inhale. '
