Plastic

Plastic

A Poem by Einstein Noodle

Plastic

She swallows everything he throws her way,
forcing down the bile of disregard.
Coffee ground  brown
drowning      -     oceans green.
She denied belief in his sidebar glances.
How His calloused heart beat Her!
He cloaks up the Earth.
She swallows real hard.
Cut    -     ragged     -      frayed
edges in the waters.
She beat against the lands with tidal influence.
No avail!
His tide
His  Clorox and Tide refusing refuse negotiations.
He publishes poison.
She uses all Her wiles to wrap an embrace
but its plastic after all.
She tools flowered vines and grasses
falling leaves and animal scent -
tresses ripe golden wheat -
padding soft parts of her feet.

Rising from slumber She sharpens claws
with a red morning sun.
Scratch marks appear like tracks of her tears.
She wants to purr -
- She hooks -
white orbs of migraine!
A breakfast for Him!
A warning.

Sad that we live in a plastic throw away society..what a mess modern mankind has created..and the ocean strives still to caress us with beauty..a hard task for nature to struggle through such disregard and mess..your writing is always so well expressed a delight to read

I feel sadness and strength in your words. It's past time to do more about this mess. Seems obvious this was going to happen - 1 plastic bottle x's 1,000,000!? Your thoughts well-expressed.

My pleasure, E!
E., this reads like a domestic battery police report (something I know well in my profession). What an image you've created here, and not only anger but a feeling of personal failure... for not doing more to stop the abuse of our natural resources. And, I love the music, too.

What a vivid, jarring description of the relationship between man and the ocean. We have a hard time understanding the impact of our actions and even when it is there for us in plain sight, it still doesn't elicit widespread change.

I love the way you used the guise of an abusive relationship...because that is the truth of it. We are frittering away the things that keep us alive and doing it with abandon. It's difficult to make the shift, though. We've been living one way for so long and now we are trying to relearn everything, essentially.

Great, thought-provoking poem.

This is a vivid and very intense depiction of what seems to me to be a toxic relationship. I have experienced this, and it often seems like an endless, bloody war between two souls clashing.
I may be wrong, but that is my interpretation.
Well written, well done.

We have, it was my pleasure. Have a great day.
My wife and I have what seems like daily discussions about plastics. I remember a time when milk cartons were made of some sort of biodegradable cardboard. We try to limit our us of the stuff.
I wrote a satirical piece not too terribly long ago. This work reminded me of it. It's called How To Save Earth. I hope you take a gander at it, if you already haven't.
We need to stay on top of this and get the rest of the world on board.
I'm not an environmentalist, but I do see a problem here.

I enjoyed this, Einstein. I wouldn't change a word of it. Even now, environmental science frets over a contenient-sized eddy of plastic remnants and debris somewhere in the Pacific. Sea creatures constrain their bodies and digestive tracts with it. Humans bury it in mountainous piles in every town. Its proven links to the incidence of cancer keep research labs humming. One great bit of progress involves new formulas to make plastic refuse more consumable, maybe one day fully biodegradable. We pundits must keep humans ever aware of their plastic footprint and its detriment to progress. You are doing God's work here. Well done. -- Doug
