Kitty Hawk

Kitty Hawk

A Poem by rachpadgett

you are the ghost of summers yet to be

my thoughts stray from him to your face down by the sea

they reach you

embrace you

consume you

erase you

or do they

slip past you

the salt air as they pass through

i am going to the shore, just like we did before

this time i mean it when i say

i don't want to go away

my soul belongs to the atlantic

your blue eyes

a disguise

they tell me not to panic

you are the lighthouse that shines in my dreams

you tempt me

call to me

surround me

you pull me
