You Don't Know Me

You Don't Know Me

A Poem by Rachel Anderson
"

As the saying goes, "you know me, but you don't know me."

"
You don’t know that I love art
or that my favorite color is blue.
You don’t know that I love to study
the way that water moves.

You don’t know I tear up napkins
when I feel nervous or our of place
and you don’t know I have no goals,
no aspirations to face.

You don’t know I almost never cry,
although I’m always sad
or that the nightmares plaguing these sleepless nights
drown me or burn me to ash.

You don’t know anything about me
or what I’ve hidden inside my walls
because the fact remains:
you don’t know me.

Not a lot,

not a little,

not at all.

This is so good my friend, how hard it is, when those little things, are never noticed by the one, you love, and the one, you know inside out, but alas, he doesn't pay that much attention... And when you explain it all like you did in this poem, he would know, but it's a thing that always must come spontaneously and if it's not coming, out of himself, it probably never will... (I don't know if it's personal) but if not, you did a great job to explain this situation that happens so often, in people's lives. Well done Rachel.

This whole thing really had in impact on me but the last few lines really did " Not a lot, not a little, not at all" such true words. I feel like you didn't' hold back in this and it turned out really well- very clever
