Sleep

Sleep

A Poem by Radrach23

This craving for you,
Is getting stronger.
I need you here,
Right now. This instant.

I miss you Nicki.
I want your body,
Pressed against mine,
As we drift off to sleep.

You fought off my nightmares.
How you did it, I don't know.
Not a single demon,
Could infiltrate my dreams.

I slept better,
Than I have in months.
With you by my side,
Nothing could wake me.

Pleasant dreams,
Are all I remember,
From this past weekend's slumber.
It was beautiful.

Since you left,
The terrors have returned.
Visions of clear blue skies,
Have returned to storms.
Pictures of sunsets,
Have turned to chaos.
Dreams of happiness,
Went back to death and destruction.

Next weekend,
Is far too long,
To be able to sleep peacefully again.
