Oblivion

Oblivion

A Poem by r
"

to all the people who saw me everyday and never did a damn thing to stop me

"

These silent haunting screams

will never be heard

you sit in oblivion

and utter not a word

these hands I feel upon me

are so life-like & real

you sit in oblivion

with a face made of steel

this razor to my wrist

it's just so damn good

you sit in oblivion

claiming you did all you could

this full glass in my hand

the liquid burns all down my throat

you sit in oblivion

making me a scapegoat

the cancer between my fingers

going to my lungs

you sit in oblivion

saying there's nothing to be done

the bruises on my body

so easy to see

you sit in oblivion

making life what you want it to be

the noose around my neck

is getting tighter everyday

you sit in oblivion

with nothing else to say

my body in a coffin

planning a funeral date

you say "I sat in oblivion

and now it's too late"

if only you could see

these rivers running red

if you weren't in oblivion you'd know

I'm already dead

This is a masterpiece-seriously, this is just absolutely beautiful and enchanting in its' every single, sorrow-full and destructive way! What you wrote about and the way you wrote this is absolutely magnificent-I'm sure many can relate to this poem, and I really feel that I can. I love the word choice, too-'oblivion', what a fantastic word! I'm in awe... This is going to my favourites; thank you for sharing this!

this is a really good poem. obviously the cries for someone's attention werent enough. and i know what thats like - they say 'oh, you cut? you smoke? drink? dont do that, that's being selfish. think of the pain youre causing those who love you.' well, yeah, but...i have my own pain, you know. or, you do, i guess, and those who claim they love you arent really doing anything for you, to help i mean. you do a great job of throwing that in their face with this poem. ignorance is bliss - unless youre the one being ignored.

ah...anyway. like I said, this was really good. keep it up

Very thought provoking. Makes me think of all sides of the issue. Can we really see it coming? If it is us can we really fight it? Depression and cries for help surround us but what can any of us really do? Now I have to sit in a corner and ponder. Great poem.

Oh my gosh, this piece was awesome. I like the dark, dreary mood of the piece... it made it all the more interesting to read. I also like the repetition you used of "you sit in oblivion" and then you come up with another great line to follow. This was a very exciting write... especially for one so dark, and painful. It's almost like I enjoyed reading the pain you suffered through your words. This was powerful, and I enjoyed it as much as a vampire enjoys drinking sweet, crimson blood. :) Awesomeness deserves a 100/100...

I love this. It was sad but I liked it I have felt like this many of times. I liked how you used the title as part of the poem.
