Just Almonds

Just Almonds

A Poem by Laraine Davis

Almond eyes lock on mine

My body quivers without demand

Your beauty

Too much to handle

Yet here you come

Walking toward me

Your almond eyes

Still locked on mine

We meet

We dance

We laugh

We fall in love

Months upon months

Of nothing but

Those almond eyes

My heart pulses every time

Your name is spoken

Yet all I see now

Is a broken

Ripped apart

Stomped on

Heart

Yet you say

That she was just a friend?

That she meant nothing to you?

JUST a kiss?

Nothing is

JUST anything

You state

That you love me

How dare you

Lie to my face

How dare you

Torture me

While still gazing at me

With those almond eyes

Why must you

Break hearts like this?

Why must you

Be so cruel;

So evil.

You and your

Almond eyes

The ones I will

Never forget.

Liked this poem, sounds like Almond eyes made quite and impression. And sometimes people don't realize what they have until it is gone.
