Is Racism Dead in America?

Is racism dead in America? Is America is finally "becoming"?

"

Is racism dead in America? I believe it is. I've been arguing this fact for the past three years, but no one seems to listen, probably because to say such things is "politically incorrect." Well at last we have our proof, thanks to presidential hopeful, Barrack Obama. His success, in my opinion, is evidence that my argument is sound and factual. Now please do not misunderstand me. I am not denying that racism exists in this country. Of course it does. As a Native-American I have been a victim of racism myself a time or two. No, I'm simply arguing that racism is no longer a prevailing current of thought or ideology in this country. Certainly there are isolated cases, pockets here in there where racism still thrives. But I am speaking as a nation, as the melting pot of the world, where we have finally matured to a higher level of humanity, where as a nation no longer does one merit on his or her race, creed, or color. Let truth be told, the very fact that Barrack Obama, an African-American, has succeeded to the level that he has, wither he wins the nomination or not--and I think he will--is supportive evidence that America has moved beyond its racial boundaries, taboos and injustices of its past. This is a new day in America! The time has come that no one will be at a disadvantage based on race or gender (Hillary Clinton is doing pretty well herself, I might add). I believe America is finally becoming the great country that she is meant to be, where anyone and everyone can become whatever they want to become without limitations. To quote Michelle Obama: "For the first time in my adult lifetime, I am proud of my country." I agree Mrs. Obama. I, too, am proud of my country.

People read fiction to escape out of their own worlds into places and times that do not exist nor ever will.

About
I think authors should be honored, and I'm not just talking about the Pulitzer Prize or other author awards. Sure those are great, but I think authors should also receive recognition in such venues as.. more..
